Super cryogenic treatment technology for metal tools and parts started from the 50’s last century with applications in the nuclear energy, aviation, space industry. The technology treats metal parts in an ultra-low temperature environment (lower than -100 degrees C) for sufficient period followed by cold and hot temperature shock circles. Such treatment greatly enhances the wear resistance and fatigue resistance of these parts and improves their use life.
Super cryogenic treatment converts residual soft austenite into much harder martinite and at the same time changes the micro structure of the metal. Ultra low temperature processing further reduces carbon saturation and produces fine precipitation of carbon particles and hence enhances the wear-ability of the parts. Precipitation of fine carbides also prevented internal movement and reduced inner stress. The elimination of residual stress within the parts improves the stability of structure and dimensions. Thanks to all these metallurgic changes, there is no need to add any additive materials or surface treatment in order to increase its durability,
