CEO of Cryotherm, Dr. John Wang Presented “Cryogenic Technology and Its Applications in Metal Tools” to the Annual Conference of Jiangsu Heat Treatment Society

On October 27th at the Annual Conference of Jiangsu Heat Treatment Society, Dr. John Wang, CEO of CRYOTHERM, Inc., presented a talk on “The Cryogenic Technology and Its Applications in Metal Tools” to over 100 attendees.

Dr. Wang discussed the history and current status of cryogenic technology, from its ancient roots to its modern form. He also talked about the underlying mechanisms that contribute to the improvement of wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and prolonged life of metal tools after cryogenic treatment. Such benefits cover a wide spectrum of materials including tool steel, high speed steel, hard alloy, cupper, plastic polymers and other materials.

Dr. Wang used real and tested examples from the studies conducted by CRYOTHERM and its partners at its facility. Tests included drill bits, round saws, cutting tools, concrete drill bits, electric conductors and bearings. The results illustrated how companies could benefit from using cryogenically treated tools through increased work efficiency and lower cost. As an added benefit, China would benefit by adopting this new technology because the quality of tools made in China would make make it more competitive internationally.

Dr. Wang’s report raised great interest among the conference attendees. Many people approached Dr. Wang after his talk to seek his presentation material. One of the attendees, a CEO of a company in Changzhou, felt a great relief after knowing that CRYOTHERM offers world class service of cryogenic treatment in China. Others expressed that their international customers were requesting cryogenic treatment. Attendees from universities approached Dr. Wang to discuss the possibility of establishing a joint education program for graduate students in cryogenics.
